    Waste of our time

Posted by Courtney Roberts on Mar 17th 2025

Well that was a waste of time and money for shipping.. I ordered the upgrade router and both Winegard points their finger at T-Mobile and T-Mobile was also useless in helping us get connected. I have shipped the 5g unit back to you and am waiting for the credit back to my card. Please refund my money.

    Excellent product

Excellent product and great signal. Upfront price is fair but is all American made so I’m ok with spending a little more.

    Overpriced and underpowered

Our new motorhome came with this 5G router installed, and bluntly, its terrible. It is extremely slow to boot, and navigating the routers web UI to configure it is just painful. The UI itself is beginner webdev level, and it takes anywhere from 10-15 seconds to navigate to each page. It does not support WiFi6, and many of my 5G devices cannot see its 5GHz access point. What's worse is it cannot handle device reconnection at all. If a device reboots and tries to reconnect, it cannot, until the router is rebooted. Which can take 5-6 minutes. I love everything about our new motorhome except this thing. It has to go.

    Gateway 5G

I had an RV shop install the new system. I was impressed with Winegard customer service in helping me initiate the system. I used the same ATT sim card, and went in person to an ATT store to register the new IMEI of the new Gateway 5G changing it from the old 4G system. At first, ATT wanted to change to a more expensive plan, but on the second try, it was successful for the same plan of $50 monthly. It was very easy to set it up using the browser option. I have not used the Halo App. A few weeks later, the router was off, I detached it, and rebooted it. It failed a second time, and I noticed it was rebooting as I was grasping it. Winegard customer service came through once more and quickly replaced it. In installing the new system, the connectors Winegard uses were solid, top-notch - and it was easy to do with needle nose pliers. Went to ATT a second time to register the new IMEI, and the manager commented the system wanted to upgrade me to a more expensive plan; however, he knew it was only a data plan and quickly had me on the way. I primarily use the 5G WIFI, I often get 40-125 Mbps download speeds even with one bar. My only complaint is that strangely and infrequently I get very slow 4-8 Mbps downloads and faster uploads. It was expensive to purchase, and the installation was expensive but well done. Overall, I am very happy with the system, very satisfied with the customer service, and the product delivers what it says.
