New Products Focus on 4G LTE and IoT Systems for RV ModelsBURLINGTON, Iowa (March 8, 2019)
— Accessing the internet whenever, and wherever, consumers want is expected today, even at campgrounds or on the open road. Winegard’s products meet those connectivity expectations. Today, Winegard announced it will be unveiling the next generation of its connectivity family of high-performance 4G LTE and WiFi products during RVX. The latest products combine the best of all connectivity features, including 4K ready HDTV, GPS, radio, WiFi and 4G LTE, enabling today’s outdoor enthusiasts to access the best of both worlds.
During RVX, March 12-14th, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Winegard will showcase and demonstrate its latest lineup of OEM and aftermarket connectivity technology at its booth, #2739.
“We spent considerable time meeting with RV manufacturers to best understand how we can help differentiate the various product lines and meet the needs of customers,” said Grant Whipple, president and COO for Winegard. “Our latest products are the outcome of these meetings and showcase these dynamic features and affordable price points, available standard and optional on some models, as well as pre-wired for easy installation in the aftermarket.”
Research has shown that many camping enthusiasts want easy and consistent access to the Internet and an easy upgrade path after the purchase of an RV, which is why Winegard designed 4G LTE into its technology. The company also took feedback from the field and created a revolutionary new, simple base for easy install on its latest roof mount systems, and a new indoor mounting solution for ease of access.
“As most of us have experienced, WiFi at a campground can be unpredictable,” said Jarod Ford, Winegard wireless product manager. “This is when a WiFi extender and 4G LTE hotspot are really needed.”
Consumer demand is typically higher for 4G, than WiFi only products. “We see more connectivity solutions orders that have 4G LTE technology than WiFi only,” said Ford.
Even though 4G LTE is outpacing WiFi, consumers who want the best Internet performance possible, need to make sure their device has four key elements.
“When an RV enthusiast looks into wireless technology, he or she should ask about the size and number of antennas, how many carriers the device works with and if the device is certified by the carriers,” said Todd Wibben, vice president of technology at Winegard. “These are key factors for optimal performance and ensures the best experience possible.”
Winegard proudly designs and builds its connectivity solutions in America and will feature its new products, as well as its latest data plans and apps, at RVX. Its most popular pay-as-you-go plan features 10GB for $65 in the U.S. Winegard is the only provider of 4G LTE connected devices for RVs certified by AT&T and Verizon.
As a household name in the camping and RVing industry, Winegard carries its expertise over to other recreational and mobile industries, such as boating and trucking. “Our longevity and experience in technology, along with a competitive price point have been met with a lot of enthusiasm by commercial and recreational boat owners, as well as truck drivers and fleet owners,” said Whipple.
